Jesus did promise, ‘blessed are those who mourn for they will be comfo – David Oliver Books

Jesus did promise, ‘blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted’ but how He does that, may be quite a surprise …….

The first vacation I was able to take with my second son Joshua after his brother had died, we were sailing along the South Coast of England. As we came into the anchorage for the night a single dolphin appeared. It played around our boat.

Joshua got into our small dinghy and was able to be in the water for probably 20 minutes or more almost in touching distance. I can’t tell you how or why, but the impact of that brought tears, brought memories and brought deep deep comfort.

Gill and I have discovered on our journey of grief, and in stories from hundreds of others, that God will often choose His created world to do what nothing else can. After all the wind blows where it wants. On our first wedding anniversary after Joel died Gill and I were dreading it. Joel had always been creative and generous hearted and like many who have lost loved ones, anniversaries are often triggers for moments of grief and reminders of loss. Somewhere around breakfast time, Gill and I were looking into the northeast corner of our garden and to our amazement sat on a small shrub there was a huge bird of prey.

It stayed there from breakfast time till late afternoon. I can’t tell you how or why, but the impact of that brought tears, brought memories and brought deep deep comfort.  In His own unique way, the Holy Spirit used the natural world. The fact that heavenly father cared enough to ‘give us that very special moment’ was comfort in itself.

All these stories and many more are found in the book all about Grief available to purchase today from www.davidoliverbooks.com
